Setting up MFA without a mobile phone
If a user does not have access to a mobile device, they can register for Multifactor Authentication using several other methods including phone call, alternate email, and security questions.
Use the following steps to register for phone call and security questions.
- Access the sign in methods during first login or you can go directly to the following link: https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info
- When prompted to setup the Microsoft Authenticator, click the I want to set up a different method link
- In the window, choose Phone and click next
- Enter your phone number, select Call me, and click Next

- Answer the incoming phone call and follow the directions to authorize the login; then, click Next

- Again select I want to set up a different method and select Security questions or Email and click Next
For the example we will select Security questions

- For Security questions, select the questions and provide the corresponding answers and click Done

- Finally, click Done to complete the registration process
