Office 365 First Time Login and MFA Setup Guide
Follow the step in this guide to login to Office 365 for the first time. The guide will also cover the process for setting up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone.
- Open Chrome or any browser window and navigate to https://portal.office.com
- Enter your user ID. The standard format is firstname.lastname@c2education.com.
- If prompted, choose Work or School account
- Use the first-time password that was provided in a previous email
(contact C2 IT Support at support@c2education.com if the provided password is not working)

Update your password. Use your First-Time password given in a previous email and select a new password that meets the following requirements:
- At least Eight Characters- One Capital Letter
- One Lowercase Letter
- One Number
- One Special Character
- When prompted for More information required, Select Next to begin setting up your Two Factor Authentication (2fa)
- Two Factor Authentication is required for access to Office 365 apps. We recommend using the Microsoft Authenticator mobile application for ease of use. Alternatively, you have the option to use any TOTP capable application (To use another solution, select the link I want to use a different authenticator app).
- Install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone by going to Google Play or Apple Store and search for "Microsoft Authenticator"
- Once installed, open the Microsoft Authenticator app.
DO NOT Sign-in to Microsoft Authenticator upon installation. Complete the following steps instead.
- In the Microsoft Authenticator app, click the plus or three dots to Add Account
- Select Add Account
- Select Work or school account
- Select Scan a QR code
- Return to your computer to complete the next steps
- Select Next
- On your mobile device scan the QR Code with the Microsoft Authenticator app and save it to your device. Once done, Select Next on the computer
- If you used the Microsoft Authenticator a push notification will be sent to your Mobile Device, select “Approve” on your mobile device (If you do not want to use push notifications you can choose “I want to set up a different method”
- Select Next
- Select Done
- If prompted, select Yes to stay signed in if you are logged into the computer using a non-shared user account.
